My initial contact with Aspen Constructors was during the bidding process (handled primarily by our architects, Aspen Design Group). Mike Tanguay was very responsive and developed an extremely detailed proposal.  His estimates for subcontract work were not based on guesswork, but rather on specific estimates provided by subcontractors who had visited the site. When Mike thought the estimate too high, he found a way to get cost lower.  As a result of his intensive efforts, Mike presented the lowest and the most carefully prepared proposal, which we accepted.

Throughout the construction process, I felt that we received first class service. Mike’s crews always showed up, worked hard and never accepted anything but the best workmanship. They were particularly conscious of my expectations for high quality work at a reasonable cost and they delivered both. The project was finished ahead of schedule and at the original cost estimate. Since completion, Mike has graciously delivered services above and beyond the call of duty as he helped us move in and helped us complete various projects which were unrelated to our contract with him.

In addition to their construction skills, we found Mike and his crew to be honest, straightforward, and very likable. We grew to trust them implicitly and remain good friends of ours.

The construction of AVH’s new Administrator’s residence was completed in May, 1995, and thus, it is appropriate that I offer several comments on the success of the project. In summery, the project was completed on time and on budget based on AVH’s bidding process.

As District Hospital, AVH was required to comply with a 1992 approved master plan, plus obtaining addition approvals from the County Planning Office, Building Department, Employee Housing Authority and procuring the usual utility permits. With your support, these approvals were obtained on a timely basis so as not to jeopardize the overall project schedule.

Both the Architect and the General Contractor (Aspen Constructors) worked very effectively as members of the AVH project team. In carrying out the design and construction phases of the project, the working relationships were excellent with regularly scheduled meetings to resolve issues and consider new ideas for improvement. Both suppliers were very accommodating as members of the project team.

AVH and our new Administrator are very pleased with the quality of the completed project. Our overall concept was to build a basic, functional home that would last over an extended period of time.
